Ugh, I caught a cold AGAIN after being well for like 3 days after my last cold.

Anyway:

Hurrah! I've gotten my etsy up and running. My game plan is to re-list as often as possible (but only when I have items to list).

I also finished two new pins!
The matryoshka is a remake of one of the very old pins that was one of my first designs. The dragon is a lot more vibrant green in real life, I'm not sure why the camera insists on screwing with the colors :/

Update!

I've been working on the quality of my photographs and varying up backgrounds.

This is due in part to my Flickr account, which I'm actually pleasantly surprised by. I'm gaining a steady amount of views and followers. Hopefully I'll be able to put some items in my Etsy shop soon so all those views don't go to waste :x Which reminds me, I need to email my adviser to get permission to run an online business on the school's network...

Progress!

I finished sewing the junebug and carousel pins yesterday, and I am SO pleased with them. I don't think the photos do them justice. I think they came out a lot better than the teapots.

I'm going to get some photos of all my new pins together for a business card or something when the sun comes out. Even in Texas the sky is cloudy ;_;

Home At Last

Finally back in the Lone Star State! It's so good to get away from campus dining.
I got flew in yesterday evening and what was the first thing I did? (after saying hello to everyone of course)
Get out my felts and start crafting xD
I even organized my thread rack, which I made last year. It's not the most beautiful thing ever, but it gets the job done :)
And I got out my homemade light box, which is much smaller than I remember. I might make a larger one if I have time.
As you can see I finished a teapot. I'm wasn't too happy with the first go, so I tried again, this time with a darker pink, and I like it much better. I think I might do one with a light blue color as well.

I also cut out the pieces for the junebug and carousel horse pins, which I am super excited about! They are going to take FOREVER to sew, though xD

I really need to give my etsy shop a makeover before I start listing on there again. Today I plan on re-writing my profile, shop announcement and all of my policies...wish me luck!

More Business Cards

So the graphic designer within me has been having too much fun...

These are all potential back-sides of my business cards. I thought I really liked the one I came up with before, but then I got some feedback from my friends and the kind people on Etsy forums and decided I could be a little more creative. Depending on my resources, the front will either be the same photograph of a bunch of pins together or a photograph of the pin that is featured in the graphic (I'm going to be cleaning up and vectorizing the graphics too, these are just rough drafts).

Ahahah, who noticed that I misspelled "junebugsinjuly" on the back version of the business card in my last post?
Moo.com lets you print as many different cards for the same price as printing one design, so I'm taking advantage of that >:D
They won't have that blue border, that's just to show the dimensions of the card.

Cupcake Design

Another new design! I plan on adding bead-sprinkles on the actual thing :)
Came up with some business card ideas in my free time. I am in desperate need of new ones, as my original ones have a typo D: Here's the back:

Owl Design

Finally finished a design for a retro owl pin! I have been wanting to do one forever but I could never get it right. The colors will probably have to be altered slightly when I make the actual thing, but I'm hoping I can still get the "retro" color scheme. The eyes will probably be sequins, like my sugar skull pins.

New Designs

While I'm still at school I don't have the supplies I need to actually make pins, but I can design them. I have had these ideas saved for a while, but I finally got around to drawing them out last night. The wizard and dragon are remakes of old designs that I wasn't happy with.

One of these days I'll do a video tutorial for the process of how I make my pins. I am addicted to Youtube, so maybe I'll even start up a Junebugs in July Youtube channel...

Why Did I Start This Blog?

I've been crafting for a while now, and it's about time my love for it merged with my love for the internet. Last year I started selling my felt pin concoctions on Etsy.com, but because I was still in high school, I didn't have time to update it enough to make a profit. Now that my first semester of college is winding down, I'm looking forward to being able to start crafting again (I'm an art student at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh PA).
I'm hoping that having a blog will motivate me to start working on craft projects regularly.

Why "Junebugs in July?"
My projects generally have something odd or quirky about them that makes the wearer stand out. I myself am not one to blend into the crowd. Being where you don't fit in, but stand out, hence the idea of a junebug in july.
